5th Annual Walk.Run.Row is fast approaching
Newark, N.Y. August, 2012: Lace up your shoes or grab your canoes! In a few short weeks we hope you will join us for Coming Together the United Way, Walk.Run.Row.
Meet us at, T. Spencer Knight Park-Newark on September 22 - 9:00 a.m. to sign up for the event that promises to be fun for the whole family and better than ever. The pre-registration cost until Sept. 7th is $10 per person and $12 the day of the UW/WARC-Family Fun-Canal WALK. RUN. ROW. The first 100 entrants will receive a free event T-shirt!
Here’s how you can participate.
The 5K RUN will begin at 10:00 a.m. and follows the Erie Canal Trail from the Park to Whitbeck Rd. The RUN return route is Westshore Blvd. The 3 mile WALK will also begin from T. Spencer Knight Park at 10:15 a.m., on the scenic Erie Canal Trail to Whitbeck Road and back. The ROW allows for your own personal kayaks, canoes etc. and begins at 10:15. The Canal put in point will be on the opposite side of the T. Spencer Knight Park. Please bring your own equipment to row or paddle. If you would like to rent a kayak or canoe for the event, we suggest you contact the ERIE CANAL BOAT COMPANY, INC., 7 Lift-bridge Lane W. Fairport, N.Y. 14450 at 585-748-2628.
Join us afterwards for a delicious Chicken or Rib Barbeque Dinner, which is open to the public, for $8.00 by “Stoney’s” -11:00-2:00 on Saturday September 22, in the WARC parking lot. Tickets for the BBQ fundraiser are now available for purchase in Newark at the following locations; UW office, WARC office, LNB, Wegmans and Breen’s in Williamson. ALPCO RECYCLING and IEC employees may purchase tickets from their HR Dept.
The event will help raise awareness and funds in support of United Way agency services and Wayne ARC Roosevelt Children’s Center. Funds remain in the community to support those in need.

Roosevelt Children’s Center, a program of Wayne ARC, provides early intervention and preschool services to children birth to five years old through a variety of home, community and center based options. Wayne ARC, commonly associated with Wayne County or the Newark DDSO, is actually a private, not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization.
